Reaching a significant accomplishment, Indonesia’s Republikorp obtains a Patriot II Armored Vehicle License from the Czech Republic!

Indonesia’s Minister of Defense, Prabowo Subianto, in the pursuit of international defense procurement collaboration, has ensured the transfer of technology and local production capabilities for defense equipment within Indonesia. Following the footsteps of Republikorp, which recently entered into a cooperative agreement with Excalibur Army of the Czech Republic, a license for the production of the tactical Patriot II 4×4 armored vehicles has been secured for Indonesia. These Indonesian variants of tactical vehicles, weighing 12 tons, come equipped with a Remote Control Weapon System (RCWS), offering a choice of weaponry that includes 7.62mm machine guns, 12.7mm caliber weapons, and 40mm automatic grenade launchers (AGL). It is worth noting that the first-generation Patriot MATMMV unit has already been operationalized by Indonesian Navy in Sorong, Papua, for field testing and evaluation.

This collaboration was unveiled at the Indo Defence 2022 exhibition, where Excalibur Army of the Czech Republic and Tatra Defence Vehicle cemented their partnership with the Indonesian-based company, Republikorp. The partnership agreement was formally signed on November 3, 2022, with Norman Joesoef, Chairman of Republikorp, and representatives Daniel Kara of Excalibur Army and Tatra Defence Vehicle, in attendance. The signing ceremony was also witnessed by Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Defense, Muhammad Herindra, and the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic, Daniel Blažkovec Norman. This cooperative effort encompasses a Marketing and Integration License Agreement (MoA) for the PATRIOT II 4X4 Armored Vehicle and an MoA for Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Training and Facility Development for the Tatra Vehicle.

Patriot II is a new protected mobility vehicle being offered by the Czech company Excalibur Army, which is a part of the Czechoslovak Group (CSG). Developed in collaboration with H Cegielski-Poznan and Tatra Defence Vehicles, the Patriot II was unveiled at the International Trade Fair of Defence and Security Technologies (IDET) in 2019. Since then, it has gained recognition and attention in defense circles, with a notable appearance at the MSPO 2019 expo in Poland. At its core, the Patriot II is built on the robust Tatra Force 4×4 chassis, known for its exceptional off-road capabilities. What sets it apart is its modular design, which allows integration with reconnaissance, command and control systems, chemical equipment, medical evacuation facilities, recovery tools, workshops, and communication systems. Inside, it can comfortably accommodate a driver, a commander, and up to six troops. The armored vehicle comes equipped with an air conditioning system to ensure optimal operational conditions even in extreme temperatures.

The Patriot II excels in survivability, offering up to STANAG level 4 ballistic protection and level 3 mine protection. Anti-explosion seats and a reinforced hull bottom reduce the potential impact of explosions. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with an automatic fire extinguishing system in the cabin and engine compartment. To counteract weapons of mass destruction (WMD), it features a nuclear, biological, and chemical (NBC) filtration system. The vehicle’s power-pack is a formidable one, comprising a Tatra T3C-928-90 Euro 3-compliant air-cooled engine paired with an automatic transmission system, delivering a maximum power output of 300kW. An alternative power option is available, featuring the Cummins ISLe 9 370 water-cooled engine with a rated power output of 210kW. With these power sources, the Patriot II can achieve a maximum speed of 110km/h and an impressive range of 700km.
