Photographer Nguyen Dien discovered a dog with its muzzle taped while taking outdoor photos for guests on July 21 at around 11:45 a.m. Dien recounted that the dog, due to hunger, attempted to search for food in the trash but could not eat because of the tape restricting its muzzle. Dien tried to approach the dog, but it ran away. After securing his belongings and returning home, Dien launched a search effort. Despite the challenges posed by the urban area’s layout and fields, Dien posted photos and information on social media, seeking help.

On July 22, an animal support group from Ho Chi Minh City joined Dien and others in the search. They combed the area extensively but initially found no trace of the dog. Later, a farmer reported a sighting, yet the group still could not locate the animal. The situation grew dire as they feared the dog could succumb to exhaustion.

At around 9:15 p.m., a resident informed Dien that the dog had been caged. Dien, along with friends and a veterinarian, immediately went to the location. The team administered fluids and injections to stabilize the dog’s health. The removal of the tape revealed a severely damaged muzzle with exposed bone and bleeding skin.

The dog was discovered by people and kept in a cage.

At around midnight, a team from the support group and veterinarians from Ho Chi Minh City were present and administered fluids and injections to improve the dog’s health. “At this point, his eyes were brighter but he still lay still waiting for the infusion and injection,” Dien said.
