In 2023, the life of Mateus Bechi, a resident of Passo Fundo, changed unexpectedly. With the habit of leaving food on the sidewalk to feed stray animals, he found a neglected dog that waited daily to be fed.
Since then, Eva, as she was baptized, became part of the family.
The native of Passo Fundo said in an interview with Amo Meu Pet that he had a habit of leaving food for street animals.
“One day I came home from work and went to park the car and she was on the corner. She was the one eating the food,” she said.
Despite being fed, the dog was in poor health. She could barely stand.
“She was almost dying, very weak. She was very scared and ran away,” she added.
But seeing the situation, Mateus didn’t give up, he returned home, got in the car and started following the dog.
After a few blocks, Eva stopped in front of a house where other dogs in situations of abuse were staying.
The resident of the house agreed to donate the puppy; In this way, Mateus was able to offer a more comfortable and suitable living condition for the shih-tzu.
At a veterinary appointment, Eva was diagnosed with a series of health problems .
“The veterinarian said that her entire digestive system was compromised. It was found that she grew up eating garbage”, recalled the boy.
After examinations, the family began to offer appropriate treatment and, currently, Eva already eats healthy foods that are suitable for her . Her appearance is also no longer the same.
With a warm bath and proper grooming, Eva revealed a charming face. The gratitude she feels for having been saved is clear.
But in addition to curing health problems, Mateus also cured the pet’s trauma . The dog arrived at her new home very scared, especially of brooms.
Today the reality is very different. Eva is loved by all members of the guardian’s family.
“She’s lovely. We have another puppy that is just like her. They are little brothers,” she concluded.
