Eldad Hagar claimed he “had no clue it was going to be this hard” when he received an emergency call from someone reporting a homeless dog. But for Benji, the terrified stray dog, this was the point at which things began to improve.
Eldad is the creator of the Los Angeles-based Hope for Paws organization, which has rescued scores of canines with the help of Lisa Chiarelli. They raced to a Los Angeles area, where they discovered Benji, who had matted his hair and was terrified.

Benji’s skin was in bad shape, and he had fleas and ticks all over his body. After a time, he let Eldad offer him some soft caresses, which changed his fearful look.
They had to get rid of Benji’s twisted fur in the hospital, which they did.
Eldad stated,
“This was one of the most lengthy grooming procedures I’ve ever witnessed.” Benji first objected, but once they shaved half his body off, he felt relieved and simply stood there to finish the job.’
Benji was relieved yet worried after over 3 pounds of fur was removed from his body and face. Benji appeared to be a completely different dog after the wash, although he was still scared and apprehensive, which is reasonable. So Lisa invited him over to her place for some tender loving care.
Benji’s next task was to learn how to be a companion animal; his rescuers had no idea if he had ever had a home. That’s when his new buddies stepped in to assist him with the procedure.
Lisa’s dogs and foster dogs were crucial in teaching her how to care for a companion animal. Benji even discovered toys and goodies.
Benji now has a large group of pals with whom he takes a lot of images.
Benji’s curly fur began to regrow over time. He was placed for adoption through PAL Rescue and found a permanent family.
