We often think when we see a viper, we have to stay away or even beat them to 𝙙𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝 because those snakes belong to the group of vipers, It’s a group of very 𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙪𝙨 snakes.
Not! Not all snakes in the group of vipers are green. There are brown species like the rattlesnake, the mountain viper, and the beaded viper; there are yellow-black striped varieties like the Jerdon viper or other coloured blue as Truong Son viper. In contrast, there are species of water snakes that are entirely harmless but, because of their green colour, are mistaken for vipers and are 𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙙 for no reason.
The snake friend that I am about to introduce here is an example. The Blue-Eyed Striped Snake, 𝘎𝘰𝘯𝘺𝘰𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘦𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘦𝘶𝘮 (Liu, Hou, Lwin, Wang & Rao, 2021), is an eye-catching green snake, but belongs to the Colubridae family and is entirely harmless to humans. This snake can be found in cooler climates in Vietnam, China, India, and Taiwan.
This species is quite rare in residential areas, but if you go to the forest, it is possible to meet them. At first glance, they have some characteristics that are pretty similar to the Southern viper or the Vogel viper – 𝘛𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘶𝘴 cf. 𝘷𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘪 (David Vidal & Pauwels, 2001) – greenish with two white/yellow stripes running down the sides of the body, greenish tail and hanging from tree branches, however, has other characteristics to distinguish this species from other vipers, the pupils of this green-striped snake are round (the pupils of the vipers are oval, but note that at night the pupils of the vipers can be dilated to their maximum rounded), they do not have heat pits (but vipers do), their eyes are blue or green (viper eyes are often red, orange, yellow), their heads are elongated (viper heads are shaped like red, orange, and yellow) Triangular), the scales on the top of their head are plate-shaped (the scales on the top of the viper’s head are granular).
This blue-eyed snake is not too 𝙖𝙜𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙚 if it sees humans. It will try to run away (which Most snakes are like that and do not actively 𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙖𝙘𝙠 humans). When caught or threatened, they have to 𝙗𝙞𝙩𝙚; the bite is not 𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙨 but must be disinfected with an antiseptic such as alcohol 70 temperature, hydrogen peroxide or red medicine. If necessary, go to medical facilities for medical examination because many 𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙢𝙛𝙪𝙡 microorganisms are in the snake’s mouth.
Even so, I do not encourage you to try to 𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝, 𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙩, or 𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡 any 𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙪𝙨 snake because they are inherently a link in the earth’s ecosystem. Instead of directly 𝙨𝙡𝙖𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜, let’s work together to help preserve and protect the earth’s ecosystem!
